GREAT ARTISTS FOR KIDS

Discover the books that teach children about great art and famous artists with creative, hands-on activities. Kids ages 4-12 experience and enjoy painting, sculpting, drawing, and building works of art in the styles of the great masters such as Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Kahlo and O’Keeffe.

Discovering Great Artists covers the span of Western Art, with stories and projects for over 70 great masters from the Renaissance to the present. Kids learn what makes each artist unique through fun, open ended art projects that can be adapted for students from pre-Kindergarten through the elementary levels.

Great American Artists for Kids focuses on the USA, with 75 American artists from colonial times to the present. Projects stress the creative process and encourage kids to try unusual techniques such as block printing, soak-stain, and stone carving as they learn about architecture, drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture.

There are two Discovering Great Artists books written by the “art history for kids” team of MaryAnn Kohl and Kim Solga.
